Brentech customer, The Co-op NDC, based in Stoke-on-Trent, is acknowledged by logistics experts as being the most advanced pharmaceutical distribution operation in Europe. Driven by our AWARDS applications, the co-op project went live in October after some 15 months of testing and commissioning.

The purpose built, highly automated, 190,000sq ft distribution centre will serve all of the Co-operative Pharmacy’s 800 branches and will fulfil demand for the fastest moving, prescription medicines and health and beauty products, with each branch receiving a delivery daily.

“The new facility will greatly improve the efficiency of our business as we can now serve all of our branches with the same process system and have the capacity to expand in the future,” explains Peter Batty, Head of Supply Chain.

The facility has the capacity to fulfil and distribute 420,000 units in a day, which will result in improved product availability and service levels in branches.

The warehouse gives The Co-operative Pharmacy greater control over own brand ranges and the opportunity to hold and distribute additional seasonal lines as well as offering a degree of protection against market shortages.

Brentech Data Systems Ltd. is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Gary Coburn to the Board of Directors.

Mr Coburn is a former CEO of Horizon Technology Group plc and has over 25 years experience in the IT sector, working in Ireland and across European markets. He is 46 years old and has a primary honours degree in Electronic Engineering from University College Galway. After graduating, Mr Coburn spent the first 9 years of his career working for manufacturers of IT equipment (IBM, Hewlett Packard and Digital Equipment) during which he built a very successful sales track record in the Irish market. He then joined Horizon Technology Group, a company of some 20 employees specialising in the supply of IT hardware, software and services to the Irish market.

Over the next 16 years, Gary became CEO of Horizon and played a central role in developing the company from €10m turnover into a successful multinational IT services company with peak revenue in excess of €400m and over 700 employees across Europe. Horizon was successfully floated on the Dublin and London stock exchanges in 1999.

In 2008, Gary led the sale of Horizon Technology Group plc for €101m to Avnet Technology Solutions, a US company which is one of the leading IT solutions distributors in the world. He is currently Senior Vice President with Avnet Technology Solutions EMEA.

Also joining the development team is Branislav Uhrin with 20 years experience in developing ERP systems using both Progress and Webspeed technologies.

Brentech previewed AWARDS-BA to a number of existing user sites over the past few weeks and the response has been extremely positive. David was one of the founding members of OpenAccounts in 1992 and held various key directorships during its growth from a small company to one employing over 200 people with a turnover of £40M+.

Starting as Sales Manager, David became Sales Director in 1995. By 1998 he had been appointed Business Development Director and guided the company as Managing Director from 2001 until he retired from the business in 2006 following its acquisition by Cedar Solutions two years earlier
